Initial Call:

Mr. Hirth reached out to Built Restoration and Construction Services as a referral from his neighbor. Mr. Hirths home which suffered from lightning damage during the heavy storms that started early December 2016. Mr. Hirth was originally working with a Direct Repair Company that was recommended by his insurance carrier. Over two weeks later and frustrated by a lack of communication by the contractor Built Restoration was asked to come out and evaluate the lightning damages done to the property.

KEY POINTS TO CONSIDER IF YOUR HOME SUFFERS FROM LIGHTNING DAMAGE:

  • Contact Built Restoration if you think your home may have been hit during a lighting storm. Do not attempt to inspect yourself
  • If you are sure that your home was struck by lightning contact the fire department immediately
  • Turn off all electronics

Site Visit:

When we arrived at Mr. Hirths home the front left gable was tarped. Damage was evident throughout other portions of the home. The scope of damages/repairs to Mr. Hirths home included the following items:

  • Remove and replace shingles on all slopes-several shingles were wind damaged or burnt
  • Siding damage at rear of home
  • Insulation damaged by water entering the attic after the lightning strike
  • Electrical panel damaged

Not wanting to go on a third week of a tarp covering his roof Mr. Hirth asked us to schedule repairs as quickly as possible. Built Restoration and Construction Services immediately contacted Met Life Insurance Company to confirm coverage for all damages to the home. Met Life Insurance agreed to appropriate changes in estimate, approved claim, and asked us to schedule repairs as soon as possible.

Within three days of initial call and meeting Mr. Hirth we had completed the following:

  • Correctly scoped and estimated his home for damages
  • Received approval of revised estimate for damages from insurance company
  • Met with Mr. Hirth and confirmed selections-scheduled delivery of material
  • Scheduled dump trailer to handle all debris
  • Removed and replaced entire roof system
  • Repaired wind damaged siding at rear of property
  • Replaced wet insulation in attic

Mr. Hirth was beyond happy to have the repairs completed to his home and was pleased with the work. It should be mentioned that despite a rough start Met Life Insurance Company went out of its way to try and be as accommodating to Mr. Hirth as they could.
